02/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – A group of 93 companies from the European hydrogen sector sent a letter to the European Commission on Tuesday 2 June to express their support for the future ‘European Clean Hydrogen Alliance’. In this letter, the signatories express their readiness to invest massively in hydrogen, while also underlining the role of clean hydrogen in achieving the objectives of the European Green Deal. According to them, “clean hydrogen has the potential to accelerate the decarbonisation of our energy system and of our industrial production pathways”. Proposed as part of the new European industrial strategy along the lines of the European Battery Alliance (see EUROPE 12443/7), the Clean Hydrogen Alliance will aim to foster stakeholder engagement, political leadership and investment to stimulate the hydrogen market in Europe.
