02/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament Committee on Budgets (BUDG) on Thursday 28 May unanimously approved (38 votes) a report by Portuguese MEP José Manuel Fernandes (EPP) on 279 million euros in aid from the EU Solidarity Fund (EUSF) for Portugal, Italy, Spain and Austria. Thus, Portugal receives 8.2 million euros for the Azores, which were hit by Hurricane Lorenzo in October 2019, Spain - 56.7 million euros for the floods that hit the South-East of the country in September, Italy - 211.7 million euros for the massive floods in November and October, and Austria receives 2.3 million euros for November floods in the South-West of its territory. The text must now pass in the plenary session in June and then in the EU Council before EU aid can be released. (PH)
