25/01/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 25 January, the European Commission published its progress report on the 8th round of talks for the modernisation of the comprehensive EU/Mexico agreement, which took place on 12 January in Mexico City. The Commission stated, "Significant progress has been achieved and the two parties have agreed on eight chapters of the agreement, including trade in goods, trade and sustainable development and good regulatory practices”. European and Mexican negotiators have begun a race against the clock to seal the revised comprehensive EU/Mexico agreement before 1 March (see EUROPE 11945). Commission negotiators will play host to their Mexican counterparts next week on 5 February before travelling to Mexico in the week of 12 February. (EH)
