25/01/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 25 January, the European Commission sent reasoned opinions to twelve member states (Bulgaria, Croatia, Spain, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia and Sweden), calling upon them fully to transpose the revised directive on the financial instruments markets (MiFID II), which entered into force on 3 January of this year (see EUROPE 11932), into their national legislations, along with delegated directive (EU) 2017/593, which completes it. The transposition deadline of the MiFID II Directive had already been postponed by one year to July 2017 (see EUROPE 11487), yet certain member states have still not transposed it at all, the Commission reports in a press release. The twelve member states have two months to take the necessary measures, or risk being referred to the Court of Justice of the EU. (MF)
