Protests at cancellation of production of Idomeneo

Brussels, 29/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - The cancellation by Deutsche Oper of Berlin of its production of Idomeneo, due to fears that the scene in which the Prophet Mohammed is decapitated (as, at the same time, are Jesus, the Buddha and Poseidon: Ed) may be considered offensive to Muslims, has come in for some strong criticism from German Green Helga Trüpel, vice-president of the committee on culture of the EP and former Senator for Culture in Bremen.
