Strasbourg, 29/09/2006 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament came under fire from EU Fisheries Commissioner Joe Borg for its watering down of planned measures to manage stocks of sole and plaice in the North Sea (see EUROPE No. 9106). Adopting a report on 28 September by Albert Jan Maat (EPP-ED, the Netherlands), the European Parliament called for a new approach to be taken to setting quotas when the stocks of the fish in question are under threat.
