Jurgen Schroder represents EP at opening of newly elected Afghan parliament

Brussels, 21/12/2005 (Agence Europe) - German CDU MEP Jurgen Schroder attended the opening of the newly elected Afghan parliament in Kabul on 19 December on behalf of the President of the European Parliament, Josep Borrell. Welcoming the elections and the fact that 68 women have been elected, Schroder the situation in Afghanistan was still 'fragile', as was shown by the tight security measures under which the constituent assembly took place.
