22/12/2005 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided not to raise any objections to the Spanish coal industry restructuring plan 2003 to 2005. The Commission says the plan respects the EU regulation on state aid to the coal industry (1407/2002). In the planned restructuring, Spain has significantly cut state subsidies for the coal industry (to an estimated EUR 1 bn a year) and also cuts its mining capacity.
