Brussels, 22/12/2005 (Agence Europe) - Meeting in Vienna on Wednesday, European negotiators from the EU3 (the UK, Germany and France) and their Iranian counterparts said they would be consulting with their governments on the details of resuming the nuclear dialogue with Iran in January. French negotiator Stanlislas de Laboulay said: 'Both sides set out their positions in an open and frank manner and agreed to consult with their respective leaderships with a view to holding another round of talks in January.' He said the January talks would be aimed at 'agreeing on the framework' of further negotiations. As expected, at Wednesday's meeting, Iranian negotiators said Iran had the right to control the entire cycle for producing fuel for a reactor, from extracting uranium to enriching it. Laboulay suggested that Iranian negotiators had avoided confrontation at the talks on Wednesday. Asked whether a proposal supported by the EU and the US to move Iran's enrichment programme to Russia was off the table, he said: 'They did not reject any plan,' (see EUROPE 9095).
