Council agrees on Baltic fishing quotas and days at sea

Brussels, 21/12/2005 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the EU25 fisheries ministers managed to reach agreement on the regulation setting fishing quotas and total allowable catches (TACs) for 2006 in the Baltic Sea. They agreed on a 10% cut in fishing for cod, herring, plaice, salmon and sprats. The rules are relatively relaxed for the countries fishing in the Baltic (Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, the UK, Poland and the Baltic States).
