Brussels, 28/09/2005 (Agence Europe) - The European Commissioner for Security, Justice and Freedom, Franco Frattini, met Methad H. Al-Mahmood, President of the Higher Juridical Council and of the Federal Supreme Court of Iraq, in Brussels on 28 September. Mr Al-Mahmood is currently visiting some European counties within the framework of the cooperation launched by the EU in July 2005 - under the EUJUST LEX initiative - for the training of senior judges, investigative magistrates and officials of Iraqi police forces. A Commission press release states that Mr Frattini expressed, on this occasion, the full support of Europe for further collaboration with Iraq in the process of reforms for strengthening rule of law.
