Commission feels clauses in GDF-ENI and GDF-ENEL (gas) contracts are in breach of competition rules

Brussels, 27/10/2004 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has published two decisions that the territorial restriction clauses contained in contained in two transport/services contracts concluded by GDF (Gaz De France), with ENI and ENEL respectively, just before the European gas market was liberalised in 1997, are in breach of article 81 of the Treaty (agreements). These are the first decisions the Commission has taken in the gas sector.
