Loyola de Palacio hopes watered-down version of "nuclear package" adopted Wednesday will break minority blockage at Council

Brussels, 08/09/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday the Commission confirmed that it wanted to introduce binding legislation on the safety of nuclear installations and radioactive waste management in the enlarged EU by proposing a revised version of its two proposals for directives of 30 January 2003, which the Council had rejected in June (EUROPE yesterday p 10).
