Parliament boosts role, competences and funding of regional consultative councils

Strasbourg, 06/04/2004 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday, the Parliament bolstered the role, competences and funding of regional consultative councils for common policy on fisheries by adopting the report by Seán Ó Neachtain (UEN, Ireland) modifying considerably the initial proposal (consultation procedure).

MEPs voted for the creation of two additional regional councils, the first on tuna and other highly migratory fish stocks (representing 60% of production in the Community canned fish...
