06/04/2004 (Agence Europe) - During its plenary session at the end of March, the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) adopted the opinion of German Lutz Ribbe (director of the Euronatur Foundation) on the "Realities and perspectives for appropriate environmental technologies in the candidate countries", calling upon the Commission to make recommendations on environmental technologies appropriate to local situations. These technologies are too little-known and under-used in the candidate countries and the EU of Fifteen alike, said a press release. According to the EESC, "creating centres of competency in appropriate technologies in the candidate countries could be a way of reducing this information deficit".
