Verhofstadt not seeking presidency - main EP group will "not have its place reserved", warns Baron

Brussels, 16/03/2004 (Agence Europe) - Belgian prime minister, Liberal Guy Verhofstadt, indicated in the Belgian weekly, Humo (quoted by Reuters), that he would not be a candidate for Romano Prodi's post at the Head of the European Commission. Verhofstadt said that he wanted to focus on his job as Head of the Belgian government.
