Pat Cox in Budapest for 16th conference of presidents from enlargement countries

Brussels, 30/01/2004 (Agence Europe) - The president of the European Parliament, Pat Cox, will take part on 3-4 February in Budapest, at the sixteenth Conference of Presidents from Enlargement Countries, in Hungary. Pat Cox and Elmar Brok, president of the EP's foreign affairs committee, will be speaking on 4 February to their colleagues from the future Member States from candidate countries. the meeting will also provide an opportunity for Mr Cox to hold bilateral meetings with his colleagues: Katalin Szili, president of the Hungarian National Assembly, Bulent Arinc, president of the Assembly of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM). In Budapest, Mr Cox will also be meeting with president Ferenc Madl and prime minister Peter Megdyessy.

On 2 February Pat Cox will be visiting Warsaw to meet the prime minister and president of the Diete. He will also be placing a wreath at the monument to the workers of the Gdansk shipyards killed in 1970.
