Aid to French public television stations, France 2 and France 3, is legal

Brussels, 11/12/2003 (Agence Europe) - The French public television stations, France 2 and France 3, can breathe again. The subsidies they received from the French State do not exceed the cost of their public service activities, as the commercial channel, TF1, had claimed. Such is the conclusion reached by the European Commission. A detailed investigation covered the financial aid received, in addition to the licensing fees, by the two channels between 1988 and 1994.
