ATD Fourth World survey

Brussels, 19/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - On the occasion of the World Day for Children, on 20 November, the International ATD Fourth World Movement will present, on 19 November in Strasbourg - during the joint meeting of Parliamentary Intergroups "European Fourth World Committee" and "Family and Protection of Childhood" - its working document on "Precious children, precious parents - tabling on fundamental links in the fight against childhood poverty in Europe". The document, which is achieved with the financial support of the European Commission, is a tool for reflection to fuel European dialogue that ATD Fourth World will hold in the context of an exchange programme supported by the Commission in 2004 and 2005. The family group is seen in the document as a resource to be used in the fight against childhood poverty, on condition that it is recognised and supported in an appropriate manner. In order to draft this document, ATD Fourth World undertook exploratory work lasting 9-months in ten European countries, a press release states, specifying that this document mainly collects what children and parents concerned teach us about childhood poverty.
