Full renewal of co-operation with Fiji - 23.1 million EUR over five years

Brussels, 17/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Council decided on Monday, without debate, fully to renew co-operation with Fiji, which the EU suspended after the coup d'Etat which took place in the country in May 2000. The composition of the government, which was democratically elected in August/September 2001 and is now in line with the country's constitutional law, convinced the Council to lift its sanctions, which notably stopped the programming of resources out of the 9th EDF for Fiji.
