17/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - During a meeting on the future European Constitution organised by the American Chamber of Commerce of the European Union, Convention Vice-President Jean-Luc Dehaene felt that, unlike past enlargements, the new Union enlargement will take place although the Union's structures are not yet adapted to the new situation. The enlarged Union should function with a Commission that is not adapted, he regretted more than anything. Ferdinando Beccalli, of General Electric Europe, Middle East and Africa, said he was confident that the Constitution will improve "the transparency of the EU … integral to legal certainty, which is necessary to create a sound business environment in Europe".
