17/11/2003 (Agence Europe) - Member States are called upon to speed up their procedures for ratification of the international treaty on phytogenetic resources in order to allow this treaty to take effect. It was adopted on 3 November 2001 by the ministerial FAO conference. This result is stated in the conclusions adopted on Monday by Council. The Community and the Member States signed the treaty in June 2002 and must now ratify it.
