European Commission agrees to inform unsuccessful bidders more rapidly and provide reasonable delay for signing contract

Brussels, 22/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Monday, the European Ombudsman welcomed the new procedure adopted by the European Commission with regards bidding. The European Commission undertook, in a communication dated 3 July, to inform unsuccessful bidders rapidly and provide for a reasonable delay before the contract is signed. This is to give bidders time to request the reasons for the award decision and challenge the decision through legal proceedings.
