Accession countries' membership of ESA "will not happen immediately" and will be prepared via bilateral agreements

Brussels, 18/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - Membership of the European Space Agency (ESA) by the ten countries acceding to the European Union "will not happen immediately", ESA's strategy and external relations director, Jean-Paul Poncelet, told Agence Europe. Membership will be prepared by bilateral agreements, associating the countries with ESA, he explained.
