Artemis leaves Democratic Republic of Congo

Brussels, 09/09/2003 (Agence Europe) - the last soldiers from the multinational military mission under European command, Artemis, left Ituri in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday. The mandate for this temporary mission, deployed since 12 June ended on 1 September. Its objective was to stabilise the region while awaiting the strengthening of the mandate and reinforcements for the United Nations mission on the ground, Monuc.
