Commission supports peace process in Congo-Brazzaville

Brussels, 15/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has decided to support the peace process in Congo Brazzaville by allocating EUR 731 000 to emergency operations for disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration of 1000 former Ninja rebels to their villages.

This decision follows the cease fire concluded on 17 March 2003 between the government and the Njna Rebels and was confirmed by Pastor Ntoumi the day after the Joint ACP/EU Parliamentary Assembly in Brazzaville.
