Commission decides to refer eight Member States to the European Court of Justice for failing to transpose the zoo directive

Brussels, 09/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the European Commission decided to refer Germany, Italy, UK, Ireland, Greece, Spain, Portugal, and Finland to the European Court of Justice for failing to meet an agreed April 2002 deadline for adopting the national legislation that is needed to implement an EU directive designed to improve the conservation role of zoos.
