France must comply with Court judgment on financing of universal service in telecommunications according to european rules

Brussels, 09/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided to serve formal notice on the French authorities for failing to comply fully with the Court's ruling on financing of universal service in telecommunications in a Member State in accordance with European rules. The Commission had taken France to the Court of Justice in April 2000 for non-compliance with Directive 96/19/EC and Directive 97/33/EC which authorise the establishment of mechanisms for sharing the net cost of...
