France must respect equal treatment for cable networks in the provision of telecommunications services

Brussels, 09/04/2003 (Agence Europe) - The Commission has sent France a reasoned opinion for having failed to comply with the "Cable" Directive of 1995 and the "Full Competition" Directive of 1996 despite receiving a warning in October 2002. According to these directives, Member States must allow cable television network operators to provide telecommunications services under the same conditions as any other telecommunications operator.
