26/11/2002 (Agence Europe) - By adopting the report by the member of the Scottish National Party, Neil MacCormick, the EP decided to lift the immunity of Karl-Heinz Florenz (CDU). It thus responded favourably to the request of the prosecutor general of Cleves in view of initiating an enquiry in a criminal procedure on manslaughter. Mr. Florenz personally insisted that his immunity be lifted in this affair that bears no relation to his political activity, says the report, providing a quick overview of the facts: - on 3 August, Mr. Florenz was driving a tractor on a narrow lane in Neunkirchen-Vluy, pulling two trailers full of hay behind; - as he was slowly overtaking two people, one of them, Adrian Zygfryd Kolodziej, passably drunk, stepped back and fell under the second trailer which crushed him; - seriously hurt to the head, the victim died on the spot.
