Brussels, 03/10/2002 (Agence Europe) - Figures released by Eurostat on Wednesday show that the unemployment rate stood at 8.3% in August 2002, unchanged compared to July but rose 0.3% compared to last year (8.0%) in August 2001. The EU15 unemployment rate was 7.7% in August, unchanged compared to July. It was 7.3% in August 2001. According to Eurostat, in August 2002, 11.5 million men and women were unemployed in the euro-zone and 13.5 million in the EU15.
