First interventions show considerable divergence of opinion between Spain and France over mid-term review proposals - Germany and especially Sweden would have liked to go further

Brussels, 15/07/2002 (Agence Europe) - At the time of going to press, the beginning of the public debate on mid-term review of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), held on Monday at the Agriculture Council, showed considerable divergence between Member States. There were those who consider that the Commission's proposals go well beyond the decisions taken by the Heads of State and Government in Berlin (France, Spain and Portugal), and others who, like Sweden, would have liked to go further....
