SCH - SANTANDER CENTRAL HISPANO has put in a definitive bid for Mexican bank BANCO BITAL. The Spanish bank, competing with its British counterpart in the acquisition, already controls 30% of voting rights in this fourth largest bank in Mexico. It would like to wrest control of the 56% voting rights held by the Berrondo Avalos family, which controls BANCO BITAL.
