Commission adopts report intended for Biarritz Summit on European strategy for safety at sea - Progress on several aspects and other initiatives announced

Brussels, 27/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday, the European Commission adopted its report on implementing the "Community's Strategy for Safety at Sea", which it is to present at the Biarritz Summit of 13 and 14 October. It reports on the state of discussions in Council on measures proposed in March 2000 to enhance the safety of oil tankers, and confirms that it is to present complementary measures in the coming months (see below).
