Commission report on distribution of Community spending in Member states - Greece, Portugal, Ireland and Spain (as well as Denmark) receive more than they pay

Brussels, 19/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - In 1999, Greece (with 3755.6 million euro), Portugal (2802 million), Ireland (1930.5 million), Spain (7090.7 million), and to a lesser extent Denmark (50 million) received more from the Community budget than they paid in to that same budget. The other countries are "net contributors", i.e., they paid more than they received under different Community policies.
