ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) retailing

CONFORAMA, subsidiary specialised in household furniture of the French group PPR - PINAULT-PRINTEMPS-REDOUTE, has taken a 60% stake in its Italian rival EMMEZETA (404 million euro turnover in 1999 with 15 shops), considering that it will thus become the world's number two in furniture. The agreement provides for the possibility for it to take its stake to 100% in 2003.
