European Commission decides to finance 15 projects to combat drugs in sport

Brussels, 07/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has announced that it will finance 15 pilot projects to combat doping in sport for a budgetary total of EUR 2.5 million. "These projects do not directly cover the detection of doping substances but take the form of information campaigns on doping and conferences on the possibility of harmonising the fight against doping at European level", said the spokesperson's service for European Sports Commissioner Viviane Reding.
