European Commission monitors method for allocation of UMTS licences in certain Member States

Brussels, 07/09/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission spokesperson confirmed that the competition services where monitoring the allocation procedures for UMTS licences (new generation mobile telephones) in the Member States, notably following complaints concerning the procedures applied in France, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium.
