Commission conditionally approves Spanish aid to Trasmediterránea ferry company in order to ensure continuity of service

Brussels, 20/07/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided to authorise, with conditions, Spanish state aid to the Compañia Trasmediterránea, Spanish ferry operator. Although the Commission considers as unlawful the awarding of the contract to Trasmediterránea for ferry services between Spain, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands and Melilla, it allows Spain to continue with the contract including aid in order to allow continuity of essential ferry services, but it imposes a...
