*** EU/France: 54% of the French favour the election of a President of the European Union by direct universal suffrage, 31% are opposed and 15% have no opinion, according to a poll conducted by BVA-L'Expansion-LCI. Also, 39% of those polled would like to see Jacques Delors become President, 23% Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, 7% Helmut Kohl and 3% Romano Prodi, while 28% have no opinion.
