All political groups praise the report by the Group of Eminent Persons - Issue now in the hands of EP President

Brussels, 13/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - The conference of Presidents of the political groups of the European Parliament discussed late last week the report by the Group of Eminent Persons on the statute for Members of the EP (see EUROPE of 7 June, p. 15). It asked President Nicole Fontaine to forward the report for information to the European Commission and the Council and to prepare, with the EP-Council Liaison Group, a draft statute for the July session.
