Brussels, 13/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - The EU and Japan have begun, at technical level, the negotiation of a cooperation agreement in the area of competition. The Council approved last week a negotiating brief requested by the Commission in May (see EUROPE of 20 May, page 13). Based on the model of the EU/United States and the EU/Canada agreements, the future accord will make it possible to develop coordination between the European Commission and the Japanese Fair Trade Commission.
