For want of a majority in Standing Veterinary Committee, Agriculture Council will have to act on exclusion of specified risk materials from food chain

Brussels, 13/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - The EU Standing Veterinary Committee having failed to build the qualified majority required for the Commissions adoption of its proposal on the elimination of specified risk material from the human and animal food chain (see EUROPE of 5 may, p. 15), it will now be up to the Agriculture Council to act at its next session (19/20 June).

Member State representatives meeting last week in the Standing Veterinary Committee did not manage to come to agreement...
