First meeting of Joint Committee, which will try to get the interim Association Agreement off the ground

Brussels, 23/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - The EU/Palestinian Authority Joint Committee, established pursuant to the Interim Association Agreement on Trade and Cooperation, held its first meeting on Tuesday, with Commissioner Chris Patten chairing (Mr Gama, Portugal's Foreign Minister, represented the Council Presidency). The Palestinian delegation was led by Planning Minister Nabeel Sha'ath and Economy Minister Maher N. Masri.
