EIB loan of EUR 50 million to modernise transport and private enterprises

Luxembourg, 23/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Investment Bank is lending EUR 50 million for rail transport and modernisation of the private sector in Tunisia. These are the first funds being lent to a Mediterranean country under the EIB's new "Euromed" mandate for 2000-2006.

  • A loan of EUR 25 million is being granted to the Republic of Tunisia for completion of track doubling on the line between Tunis and Sousse and modernisation of the rail network in the Sousse area.
