Commission decides to grant an additional 20,000 tonnes of cereals and 2 million emergency aid for victims of war and drought

Brussels, 23/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - To help the victims of the war and drought in Eritrea, the European Commission has decided to send an additional 20,000 tonnes of cereals to the country and provide 2 million euro in emergency assistance for the needy population.

Half the cereals (of the 20,000 tonnes of wheat) will be distributed by non-governmental organisations members of the Euronaid network and the other half through the World Food Programme (WFP). This additional quantity takes...
