Theato report on protection of EU financial interests calls for establishment of a uniform legal framework and a European prosecutor

Brussels, 14/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - The EP Committee on Budgetary Control has called for the European Union to create a complete legal and judicial framework for the protection of its financial interests, along with an independent European prosecutor. The Theato report on the protection of financial interests states that these two measures would make it possible to set in place "uniform -or at least harmonised- penal rules in all the Member States", so as to avoid the "areas of impunity"...
