British operator CABLE & WIRELESS has announced the acquisition of eight European suppliers of Internet access for a total price of EUR 500 billion. The eight companies, which together represent an annual turnover of EUR 130 million, will allow the British operator to become the second largest carrier of Internet data worldwide after American MCI WORLDCOM.
