European Commission to inspect RINA, company which authorised oil tanker Erika to take the sea, on 28 February

Brussels, 14/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - On 28 February, the European Commission will be inspecting Rina, the Italian classification society which authorised the oil-tanker Erika to take to the sea, just one week before it sunk off the French coast. In a letter to the Italian Permanent Representative in Brussels, the director general for transport, François Lamoureux, informed the Italian authorities that a delegation from his services and independent experts would be beginning an inspection...
