Committee on Constitutional Affairs attempts to secure guarantees on broadening of agenda of Intergovernmental Conference, but Parliament should not delay the IGC

Brussels, 14/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - As we announced (see EURPE of 13 January, p.3), the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, chaired by Italian Socialist Giorgio Napolitano, is attempting to put pressure on the Portuguese Presidency to secure guarantees over the broadening of the agenda of the Intergovernmental Conference that should normally be starting work on 14 February.
